Bazian were delighted to learn that NHS Choices “saves £44m a year in unnecessary consultation”, according to an unpublished report for the Department of Health (as reported in the Health Service Journal). A survey of users of the website found that 37% of people who used the service before deciding to seek a GP consultation said that the website had decreased their use of GP services. >>
November saw the exciting launch of the new Appraisals service at BMA house in London. Bazian is providing clinical analysis to ensure that PCT consultees are able to contribute to every single NICE TAG. The launch drew on contributions from (including others) Andrew Donald (CEO BEN PCT), Claire Cheong-Leen (Director of the service)and Vivek Muthu (Clinical Lead). >>
Bazian's work on revising and updating the original guideline for the recognition and assessment of acute pain in children is now available on the Royal College of Nursing website. The revised guideline identifies reliable and valid tools for measuring pain intensity in children, and a new section on pain in children with cognitive impairments. >>
Bazian has worked closely over the last year in collaboration with Matrix Knowledge Group, Imperial College London and Kings College London in a project commissioned by Health England to develop and apply a method for prioritising investments in preventative health and social care interventions. H.E.L.P the Health England Leading Prioritisation online tool was created. >>
