Rob is Bazian's Clinical Director, responsible for running our scientific unit and its team of information specialists and research analysts. Rob earned his medical degree from Guy's Hospital in London before working in general practice in Britain and New Zealand. While enrolled in a Masters of Public Health at Auckland University in 2001, Rob became the Medical Director and Senior Project Manager for the New Zealand Guidelines Group, coordinating and managing the development of cardiovascular guidelines. Joining Bazian at the beginning of 2006, he applies evidence to knowledge management systems, quality processes for clinical and policy decision makers. Rob sits on an advisory board for Cedar, an NHS-academic evaluation centre for health technologies, devices and tests. He is a member of a NIHR Topic Identification, Development and Evaluation (TIDE) panel identifying important research gaps in mental health, rehabilitation, learning difficulty and other cognitive/psychological research for the NHS.
Harri is responsible for Operations and Business Development at Bazian. She has a first class honours degree in Applied and HumanBiology from Aston University. Harri worked as a research scientist at GlaxoSmithKline, followed by product development and operational roles at Mars Inc. She then moved into healthcare, specifically pharmaceutical procurement and operating models at Nuffield Health, followed by programme management and business development at Humana Healthcare.
Urmila is Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive and Corporate Services Manager. She ensures the day to day functioning of Bazian goes as smoothly and seamlessly as possible, including liaising with clients and suppliers, financial control and HR. She has worked in the public and private sectors, with responsibility for close liaison with senior staff from private companies to government departments. She has attained MBA from the University of Westminster, London.
Anelia is a Senior Information Specialist working as part of the Bazian team to develop the NICE Evidence Search service. She has been involved in the development of the NHS Evidence specialist collections, previously known as the NHS National Library for Health Specialist Libraries for the last six years. Past roles include information specialist support for a Department of Health funded systematic review project and a more traditional library role at the University of South Africa (UNISA) Library. Anelia has an MA in English from Sofia University “St Kliment Ohridski”, Bulgaria, and a Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) from Syracuse University, USA.
Janet is a Senior Information Specialist, with skills in literature searching, research management, rapid reviewing and project / programme management. She helps manage outputs for the NIHR Dissemination Centre, including 175 published research summaries each year (called Signals) and longer, interview-based products (called Highlights). She has an MSc in Information Science and a BSc in Biomedical Science, and previous experience in social care research.
Alan is Bazian's Information Services Manager, overseeing the horizon scanning, searching, collating and appraisal work for Bazian’s growing portfolio of products. Alan has a degree in Biology from Royal Holloway, University of London, and gained his doctorate from the University of Warwick. He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Sainte-Justine Hospital, University of Montreal before receiving an MA in Information Studies from the University of Brighton.
Elly is an Information Specialist within the Information Team. Elly undertakes systematic searches and critical appraisal for a number of projects, including Evidence Updates for NICE and has project managed several projects for Bazian. Before joining Bazian, Elly worked in a number of specialist medical and social science information services. Elly holds a Master's in Library and Information Studies from University College London and is a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
Li Kuan is the Business Development and Operations Associate at Bazian. Working closely with the Business Development and Operations Manager, she works on developing new business prospects including business intelligence, proposal development and formal tender applications. She is also responsible for managing selected programmes and projects at Bazian. Prior to joining Bazian in 2007, Li Kuan pursued a doctorate in Science and Technology Policy Studies in the University of Sussex where she gained an MSc in Technology and Innovation Management in 2005. She started a teaching career in the University of Malaya in 2002 before receiving an MSc with distinction in Philosophy and Science and Technology Studies from the same university.
Rachel is a Medical Research Analyst. Rachel holds a degree in medicine from University of Wales College of Medicine and has worked in general medicine, care of the elderly, surgery and general practice. Having developed an interest in epidemiology and health behaviour, she worked in the public health department of the Mid Sussex PCT prior to joining Bazian in 2006. At Bazian she has worked on more than 150 NHS-approved pathways for the Map of Medicine, and has been the lead analyst on projects for various clients including NHS PASA-CEP.
Alicia is Bazian's Health Research Analyst Manager, overseeing the production of systematic reviews. Alicia has a first class honours degree in Genetics from the University of Sheffield and received her doctorate from the University of Manchester. She worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at University College London before joining Bazian.
Rosie is a Medical Research Analyst who writes and clinically edits Behind the Headlines for NHS Choices and Signals for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Dissemination Centre. She also conducts evidence reviews and previous clients include the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, the Royal College of Nursing, Solutions for Public Health, NHS England, BUPA, the Rugby Football Union and the European Food Information Council. Rosie holds a degree in medicine from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She specialised in psychiatry, working in adult and old-age mental health services, acute crisis teams and psychiatric intensive-care units in the UK and New Zealand.
Kuljeet is Bazian's Editorial Assistant. She supports on various projects, including the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Dissemination Centre, for which she identifies and manages expert commentators, edits content and assists with project management. Kuljeet also manages Bazian's website and social media output. Another project that she has worked on is the BMJ evidence-based journals contract. This involved managing three journals: Evidence-Based Medicine, Evidence-Based Mental Health and Evidence-Based Nursing. Kuljeet has a degree in Chemistry from the University of Hertfordshire. She has worked in the manufacturing industry and following this she moved into healthcare publishing, working for companies such as Bupa, IMS Health and the Map of Medicine.
Aditi is a Health Research Analyst at Bazian. Since joining, she has used her experience to produce high-quality analysis of health research, working for clients such as the National Institute for Health Research Dissemination Centre (NIHR), NHS Choices and the Belgian Health Care Knowledge Centre (KCE). Aditi holds a Master's in Public Health (MPH) from Imperial College London, and a BSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Keele. During her studies, she spent time working with local authority public health teams and on the United Kingdom Collaborative Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening (UKCTOCS) at University College London.
Sara is a Senior Health Research Analyst working in the analysis of healthcare environments and the critical appraisal of health research. She is involved in project execution and completion, including evidence search, data extraction, data analysis and report write-up. Sara has a PhD in molecular medicine from Aarhus University in Denmark. She also holds a Master of Sciences of Pharmacy from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and has previously worked in the pharmaceutical industry in regulatory affairs.
